IT Giant scraps 7,800 Jobs at once

Microsoft is cutting not just 1 or 2 jobs but altogether 7,800 at once. The layoffs will be in the company's smartphone business.

In the year 2014, Microsoft acquired Nokia for $7.2 billion and began restructuring process. With this decision, It will incur an impairment charge of $7.6 billion related to the assets pertaining to the Nokia acquisition.

Last year, Microsoft terminated 18,000 employees. In just an year, It choose to cut several thousands of jobs bringing down the employee count of the IT giant to 1,10,000.

Satya Nadella, Microsoft CEO, confirms the news and says its a move to create more effective smartphone portfolio and a vibrant Windows ecosystem.
