Telangana state is facing severe shortage of power since few months and the gap between demand-supply only got bigger post bifurcation.
As a result, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is keen on purchasing power from other states and private parties since sometime. Chattisgarh Government has responded positively to the appeals of T-Government agreed to provide 1,000 MW of power to the newly formed state. Lack of power corridor between Telangana and Chattisgarh is a major worry. So, Chief Ministers of both the states have been keen on setting up a corridor as early as possible.
As of now, There 4 hours power cut in cities and 8 hour power cut in villages. Telangana government has already announced power holidays to Industries. The Crisis in Telangana might continue for few more months even though government has been purchasing power from private parties at a huge price of Rs 7-8 per unit.
