Telangana state turned one year old. The 29 th state of the country was celebrating its first anniversary on Tuesday. Telangana came into existence as 29th state in the country on this day last year after it was carved out of Andhra Pradesh.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao kicked off Telangana formation day celebrations. On Tuesday morning he paid rich tributes at Telangana martyrs' memorial at Gun Park near the assembly building
He later unfurled the national flag, reviewed a colorful parade and took salute at main official function held at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad. Celebrations are also being held at Telangana Bhavan, the headquarters of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi. The party is also celebrating the win of five seats in Monday's legislative council elections.The celebrations were also held at the offices of Congress, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
On 2 June 2014, Telangana was separated from Andhra Pradesh as a new 29th state of India, with the city of Hyderabad as its capital.[3] Hyderabad will continue to serve as the joint capital city for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for a period of not more than ten years.
