The Shiromani Akali Dal Wednesday announced that it will contest four assembly seats in Delhi in alliance with the BJP.
Akali Dal president and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said his party would field candidates in Hari Nagar, Rajouri Garden, Kalkaji and Shahdara for the Dec 4 contest.
The Akali Dal, which won the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee elections this year, had initially wanted to contest from 12 seats, most of which have a strong presence of Sikh voters.
Badal spoke to the media in Fazilka district, 300 km from here. The Akali Dal had contested four of the 70 seats, also in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party, in 2008 too.
