Rajya Sabha Member and Industrialist Subbarami Reddy claims he played a crucial role in the selection of Tollywood celebrities for Padma and Phalke Awards.
Subbarami Reddy: "Telugus haven't been getting due credit even though there is abundant talent. What's wrong if I use my influence in Delhi to bring those awards for the deserved persons? I was the one who made sure Ramanaidu who produced films in all languages got Dada Saheb Phalke award. Even my role in self-made man Chiranjeevi's Padma Bhushan can't be ignored. I tried my best to sure ANR, Krishna, Mohan Babu, Brahmanandam and P Susheela have been felicitated by the Indian governments with Padma awards. I was the one who has waken up Delhi bosses who have ignored the Telugus" .
When asked why did he receive the Padma honour till date, Subbarami Reddy replied, "I don't need them! I consider the appreciation from people as an award. Only wish to see the deserving artistes get them".
