A 50-year-old school teacher was Friday shot dead inside her house by a man who had approached her to rent a room, police said.
The incident occurred in Bhajanpura in east Delhi.
The victim, Deepa, was rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur hospital but was declared brought dead.
The teacher, who was a widow, lived in a two-storey house with her 29-year-old son.
Some men approached her demanding a room on rent. She was on the ground floor while her son was on the floor above. She was talking to the men when one of them shot her, said a police officer.
A case has been registered and a hunt is on for the assailant, said the officer.
