Rajas, a 8th Class Student of Sister Nivedita School, stunned the RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan with a surprise query at a recent NiE Conference.
After introducing himself to the RBI Governor, Rajas placed the question: "The mere rumour of the US cutting down on the federal stimulus saw the rupee crashing in value. When will we see an Indian policy affecting other countries so intensively". Everyone present at the conference clapped for the boy in appreciation.
Amazed by the maturity levels of the boy, Mr. Raghuram Rajan said: "I have been saying that US should be worried about the effect of their economic policy on rest of the world and when that happens to India, we will not be very happy about it. We would like to live in a world where countries take into account the effect of their policies on other countries."
"I suspect that by the time you're my age, India will be one of the two or three great economies in the world. India has kept its border relatively open, flows in and out are necessary. And you (Rajas) as the central bank governor will decide the kind of policies which will be appropriate for the world and not just for India at that time".
