AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is considering the idea of inducting a Muslim leader into his cabinet during the expansion to effectively face the criticism that there isn't a single minority leader in his 19-member ministers. In fact, TDP doesn't even have a single legislator from the muslim community.
Prior to 2014 General Elections, Majority of Muslims in the Seemandhra region backed YSR Congress as TDP formed an alliance with BJP. This helped YSR Congress to win 4 MLA seats in the polls.
Chandrababu Naidu wants to get back the support of Muslims by offering them a cabinet berth. He also given assurance through the Governor's Address that TDP Government will make Minorities stakeholders in the development of AP.
TDP Sources say, Md Farooq who served as a minister once, Ziauddin who is a former MLA and Party senior leader Md Shareef were the frontrunners for the cabinet berth.
