In a letter to Prime Minister, Didi urged Centre kindly consider complete debt waiver for the state for the sake of growth, development and empowerment. She also quoted, Total Debt by the end of financial year 2014-15 is Rs 274,800.12 crore.

Mamta Banerjee pointed out that her government has taken a debt of Rs 82,964.5 crore and Rs 76,346.78 crore out of this amount was spent only for repaying the debt taken by the previous Left Front government. She maintained West Bengal is a trap at present due to debt burden and sought Prime Minister's intervention for immediate assistance.

Even AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has appealed Modi-led NDA Government for debt waiver but there wasn't no positive response till date. With West Bengal Assembly polls in the near future, Will Modi consider Didi's request or ignores it completely?
