MLC Election in Andhra Pradesh is going to take place on July 3rd this year. As a result, Model Code of Conduct has come into force since Tuesday.
State Government appealed Election Commission to permit it to perform 'bhoomi puja' of the proposed AP Capital on June 6th citing it couldn't find any auspicious date for the ceremony other than that for six months from now. It also seeked permission from EC for the public meeting on June 8th to mark completion of TDP Government's one year after retaining power. Government assured EC that it wouldn't be announcing any new schemes or programmes till the model code is in force.
Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal forwarded the representation give by AP Government to Election Commission of India. Government is expecting a positive response from the EC.
