Big setback to TDP Government

Update: 2014-06-20 04:31 GMT
TDP Government appealed to Electricity Regulator Committee (ERC) through APGENCO for scrapping the Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) made in United Andhra Pradesh as it will do injustice to the Seemandhra region and benefit Telangana state.

However, ERC decided to continue the existing PPA until Centre takes some concrete measure to handle the power crisis in the two states. It also made it clear that PPA can't be terminated unless both the governments were in favor of it.

TRS Minister Harish Rao warned of severe consequences if the current PPA has been altered because of the pressure mounted by TDP Government. So, AP Government have to focus more on private power production firms now.
