In an attempt to movie its manufacturing base from China to India, Mobile handset maker 'Celkon' has inaugurated its first unit in Telangana State now.
The inauguration of Celkon's new factory at Medchal took place on Friday. About Rs 200 crore was invested on this project spread across 30,000 sq ft. The four production lines present in the unit will produce 2 lakh handsets per month. Celkon have plans to add another eight production lines within three months from now to up the total capacity to 5 lakh per month.
Interestingly, 'Celkon' is also keen on setting up even its second manufacturing cluster in India. For this project, The company is holding talks with Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and few Northern States. A final call on where to set up the second unit will be depended on the tax benefits and incentives these states would offer.
