Hyderabad High Court on Friday directed AP Government to file a case of murder in connection with the encounter of 20 red sandalwood smugglers in Seshachalam Forest, Chittoor.
The Court asked State Government why it hadn't registered a case of unnatural death after the encounter. With the fresh orders, A Case under Section 302 of IPC will be registered.
On the other hand, AP Government reiterates red sander smugglers were killed only after they attacked the task force police. Forest Minister B Gopala Krishna Reddy has condemned the allegations that its a fake encounter. He went on to say those who were killed are smugglers not woodcutters and they were habitual offenders. Responding on the demand for compensation for the families of smugglers who got killed, He questioned will Tamil Nadu Government offer financial help to Smuggler Veerapan's family.
