AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa moved to Karnataka High Court on Monday for bail while they were also finalizing a strategy for seeking a stay on her conviction and sentence in the disproportionate assets case.
“A team of senior lawyers met Jayalalithaa Sunday in the visitors’ room of the central jail where she is lodged since Saturday and discussed content of the bail application with her,” an AIADMK leader told to media. Prominent lawyer Ram Jethmalani is being roped in to argue the case for securing an early bail to Jayalalithaa. He is using her health and age-related ailments as the key point in seeking bail. Since the sentencing was for a period more than three years, only the high court can grant bail in Jayalalithaa’s case. Lawyers preparing strong documents to support above points to get her out of jail.
The other three are Jayalalithaa’s confidante Sasikala Natarajan, V.N. Sudhakaran and Ilavarasi. All the three are also lodged in the central jail. Preparing the documents for bail together as per latest information.
