Tollywood yesteryear actress and politician Jaya Prada was conferred with Kalashree Award by the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Foundation for her contribution to the field of arts and entertainment. The awards have been given to artistes who have made exceptional contribution to their respective fields.
Delighted by the honour, the actress said a statement: "I am very humbled to receive such a prestigious award. I would like to thank the Foundation I will continue contributing to the field of entertainment with the same enthusiasm’’
Jaya Prada was born as Lalita Rani in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. Her father Krishna Rao was a Telugu film financier. She has acted in over 200 films in all south languages like Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada. She also served as a Member of Parliament (MP) from Rampur from 2004-2014.
After a long gap the actress is gearing up to make a comeback in Bollywood with Sanjay Sharma's directorial. In the horror film, she will be seen playing the role of a modern day queen.
