As Congress central leadership is likely to announce its decision favoring the Telanagana statehood, Ministers and MPs from the Seemandhra region met prime minister Manmohan Singh Today to vent their anger on the bifurcation plans.
A delegation led by Union Ministers Chiranjeevi and Purandeswari conveyed to PM that partition will benefit neither the state nor the country, instead issues like Naxalism will take the center stage. Seemandhra leaders were still hopeful of a change in the decision as the people of their region were against division.
In the Core Committee Meeting that was chaired by Sonia Gandhi and participated by PM Manmohan Singh, Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, other key union ministers AK Antony and P Chidambaram on Friday, Congress high command has made up its mind on the creation of statehood and only the announcement is pending.
Indications have been clear that announcement by Congress could be in the first week of August. After moving the Telangana bill in state Assembly, it goes to Parliament and then seeks the nod of President of India for carving a new state.
