MLA of Ranchi Ruling Ajsu party and another accused were on Monday found guilty by a local court in a case of attack on a doctor 22 years ago.Going into details MLA Kamal Kishore Bhagat of Ajsu Party, which is part of the BJP-led government in the state, was sent to Birsa Munda Central Jail after being convicted in a 22-year-old attempt to murder case .
The court held Kamal guilty of trying to kill a well known neurophysician of Ranchi, Dr K.K. Sinha, after he refused to donate funds to the Ajsu for a rally in Patna in 1993.The FIR was lodged against the MLA in 1993 for attacking the Ranchi-based doctor. Along with MLA another leader Bodra also found guilty in the case.
Bhagat and Bodra were convicted under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 387 (putting person in fear of death or of grievous hurt in order to commit extortion) and 448 (house-trespass).With the court order the MLA faces the risk of disqualification from the state Assembly.
