Nirbhaya act : Two jailed for 20 years for techie rape

The fast-track court on Wednesday delivered its first judgement in Andhra Pradesh under Nirbhaya Act by sentencing Two Youth to 20 years jail term for raping a 22-Year-Old Woman Techie in Hyderabad.The Rangareddy district court has found the two youths guilty of gang rape against Abhaya(Police named the victim) the incident which at once caught the attention of city people. The District court imposed a sentence of 20 years in jail and Rs. 1000 as fine  after completing the hearing in a record time of about six months.

The incident was happened 8 months ago when the victim was waiting for an auto-rickshaw outside Inorbit Mall .She was offered lift by Sathish a Driver of Car owned by a city based Businessman.His friend Venkateswarlu, a cab driver, was also seated in the car and was posing as a passenger.
 
The two accused diverted the car , took the woman to Kolluru in Medak district on the outskirts of the city and raped her. They later left the woman at her hostel
 
Cases were booked against the two accused under sections of Kidnapping, Wrongful Confinement and Gang Rape of Indian Penal Code. Police had taken the help of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to crack the case.
 
The charge sheet was filed in January in a fast-track court set up for speedy trial. The prosecution produced scientific evidence and 21 witnesses in the court. After examining the scientific evidence and the version of the witnesses, Court sentenced Sathish (30) and Venkateswarlu (28) to 20 years in prison.
