Personal loss for Viswanathan Anand

Chess champion Viswanathan Anand suffered a personal loss. Anand’s mother Sushila Viswanathan has passed away today at her home. She breather her lost in her sleep and she was 79. She was survived with husband, a daughter and two sons. Anand is the youngest among them.

Sushila hailed from a family of lawyers who played chess and she laid strong foundation to Anand's Chess career. Sushila taught Anand the basic moves of the game and accompanied him to various events.Sushila last rites will be performed tomorrow at 10 am at Besant Nagar crematorium.

Anand became India's first grandmaster in 1988.He was also the first recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 1991–92, India's highest sporting honour. In 2007, he was awarded India's second highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, making him the first sports person to receive the award.
