Tiffin for 1 Rupee in Hyderabad

At a time when the rupee value is fast deteriorating, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is preparing to serve breakfast to the poor for just one rupee.

Its known that Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) recently launched a  scheme which would provide subsidized hot and hygienic meals to the poor for Rs 5 .Currently GHMC is serving noon meal to poor for Rs 5 in eight centers in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Now, the GHMC is making arrangements to serve breakfast to the poor for Re. 1 in the mornings.

The Re. one Tiffin scheme would be launched shortly. GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar announced the decision on Monday.He said they have decided to serve healthy hot breakfast  to the poor which  will benefit the 15000 people daily

Tiffins like Puri, Idli and Upma will be served to the downtrodden sections for one Rupee. Railway Stations, Bus Depots and Labour Adda are the places identified as centers. To start with, GHMC has partnered with Akshaya Patra Foundation, run by Hare Krishna Movement, which will prepare the food. GHMC allotted  Rs 11 crore for this in its 2014-15 budget.
