Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal left stunned after not being listed for the prestigious Padma Bhushan award. The Olympic bronze-medalist expressed her disappointment over the decision taken by the Sports Ministry of India (SAI).
Badminton Association of India [BAI] had recommended Saina’s name for the padma award to the Sports Ministry in last August but the ministry picked two-time Olympic medalist wrestler Sushil Kumar. The reason for rejection of Saina application shocked the player as its same like previous year.According to specifications there should be five years gap between current application to previously awarded time. Now she questioned sports ministry how come they reject her application when she completed five years by 2015. Last time she got Padma award in 2010. The Sports Ministry may now be in a dilemma to whether or not withdraw Sushil's name, which might also upset India's wrestling fraternity.May be they can announce award for both.
