The Delhi Police is looking at human trafficking angle in the murder of Rakhi, employed at the Delhi house of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) parliamentarian Dhananjay Singh.
Police is looking for a person, Dev Kumar, who brought Rakhi, 35, and another maid Meena, 48, here from West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, around a year ago.
Meena had also worked in the house where Rakhi was tortured to death by the MP's wife, Jagriti Singh.
According to a police officer, Rakhi was a Bangladeshi citizen but for the past several years was living with her family in North 24 Parganas district.
Dev was earlier employed with a south Delhi-based placement agency. Later, though the agency shut shop, he continued his work.
When Dhananjay Singh contacted Dev, the latter brought the two women to Delhi.
Police also questioned Dhananjay, who is in five days' police custody, about Dev.
Dev's location has been traced to Kolkata. A team of Delhi Police has also been sent to search for Dev, said sources.
Meanwhile, a panel of three doctors will conduct the post-mortem examination on Rakhi's body at Delhi's Lady Hardinge Hospital Friday.
Dhananjay, who represents Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh and his wife Jagriti, a senior dental surgeon at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, were arrested Tuesday for torturing Rakhi to death and beating other servants - Rampal, 17 and Meena, 36.
The police received information from the MP's flat number 175, South Avenue in the New Delhi area Monday night, informing them about Rakhi's death, who died Monday morning.
