The suspense was over and India’s entry for prestigious Oscar award was finalized.The Film Federation of India (FFI) watched all the 30 nominations it has received from different languages to select India's entry for the Best foreign language film award in the Oscars for 2015
National award winning Hindi film Liar's Dice, directed by Geetu Mohandas, has been selected as India's entry to the Oscars.The film narrates the story of a young mother, who migrates to the city in search of her missing husband.
The Hindi film already won the National Award for Best Cinematography, and its lead actor Geetanjali Thapa won the National Award for Best Actress, earlier this year.The film deals with the issue of the human cost of migration to cities, through the story of young mother, living in remote village, whose husband goes missing after having left to work many months ago.
The 87th Academy awards will take place on February 22.Till now India has never won an Oscar in the best foreign film category. The last Indian film that made it to the final five nominees at the Oscars was Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘Lagaan’.
