Congress Rajya Sabha MP KVP Ramachandra Rao condemned the accusations of few of his fellow party leaders and TDP that it was former chief minister late YS Rajasekhar Reddy who paved way for the Telangana state.
Speaking in Rajya Sabha at the time of debate on Telangana issue, KVP made it clear that YSR had never supported the creation of Telangana state. "In 2001, Congress Working Committee proposed Second SRC for looking after Telangana issue. In 2004, Congress and TRS jointly contested the polls with Second SRC as the agenda. In 2009, YSR pointed out the necessity to resolve the issues concerning other regions of the state apart from respecting the Telangana sentiment," he said.
The common feeling among the people of state is that Telangana wouldn't have been a reality if YSR was alive as KCR wouldn't have sat on fast-unto-death when a strong like him was in the CM chair. The TRS chief took advantage of YSR's demise and the internal war in Congress to achieve his target.
