Telangana: Doors, LCDs & Beds taken away!

Municiapal and Panchayat Officials in Telangana are leaving no stone unturned to make the Tax Defaulters to pay the money they owe to the state.

Doors, LCD TVs and Beds of those who didn't pay Property Taxes in Ramayampet town of Medak district have been take away by the officials as punishment.

Hyderabad Municipal Corporation revenue for the financial year 2014-15 is Rs 3,300 crore which is an excess of Rs 600 crore compared to the previous year. As per records, 1/3rd of the revenue collected is through property tax. In March this year, Municipal Corporation decided to park trucks packed with garbage in front of Tax Defaulters house to shame them before their neighbours.

In response to the criticism, Municipal Corporation advises People - 'Pay Your Taxes On Time to avoid any action against you'.
