Lok Satta president Jayaprakash Narayana came down heavily on UPA government for dividing AP without the consent of state Assembly just because of vote bank politics. "Despite entreaties, UPA & GOI are determined to destroy Indian federalism. Cabinet approved AP split without consensus among all regions. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread. GOI's step will create a dangerous precedent and weaken the bonds of India, undermining unity.," he fumed.
"So far, prior consent of the state has always been obtained before division. Now, India becomes a de facto unitary Nation. Major issues are left unaddressed in the haste for vote banks. Politics of divisions and primordial loyalties has reached it's peak," he added.
JP opined Rayala Seema is the most backward region of AP and now Residual AP will have huge revenue deficits with loss of Hyderabad. He asserted that this division creates more problems than it solves. "There will now be schism between Coastal AP and Rayala Seema. Is that the intent?," he questions UPA.
