Congress asks AAP not to escape responsibility

The Congress Saturday asked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to "fulfil the expectations" of Delhi's people by forming a government and not try to "escape" the responsibility.

"They are a new political party and since their idealism is not known to the people, we presume that they are secular. So it is nothing wrong for us to support them from outside," Congress spokesperson Bhakta Charan Das told Times Now news channel here.

"We are not going to give any conditional support. We are not going to enter into an agreement or anything," he said adding the Congress was trying to discharge its constitutional responsibility as an established political party by offering support.

"AAP should come forward to fulfil the expectations of the people of Delhi and should not try to escape from this responsibility," said Das.

AAP founder leader Arvind Kejriwal Saturday said the party has written to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and BJP president Rajnath Singh, seeking their stand on specific issues pertaining to Delhi.
