Prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award goes to…..

Bollywood Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor will be conferred the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award this year for his contribution to Indian cinema. The 77-year-old yesteryears' star is the 46th winner of the prestigious award, which is given out to honour outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India's highest award in cinema. It is presented annually at the National Film Awards ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals, an organisation set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Kapoor  has featured in  over 160 movies and won three National Awards in his illustrious career. The actor is best known for his performances in films like "Jab Jab Phool Khile", "Deewar", "Kabhi Kabhie" and "New Delhi Times".

Telugu cinema legends Akkineni Nageswara Raoa nd Movie Moghul Ramanaidu earlier conferred with the award. The award comprises a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) medallion, a shawl, and a cash prize of  1,000,000
