Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly was offered to contest the next general elections by BJP. It was none other than BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi who has come up with this offer and promised to make the Bengal sports icon the sports minister in his cabinet if BJP comes to power.
However, Ganguly is yet to take a final call on this exclusive offer. "Yes, I've an offer. But I'm still undecided on what to do. I've been busy for last few days... I'll let you know soon," he says.
Speculations were ripe that Ganguly even met Varun Gandhi through a common friend last month. Varun is National general secretary of BJP and also the observer for West Bengal.
Modi made a calculative move to improve the prospects of BJP in Trinamool Congress-ruled Bengal with 42 seats by inviting Ganguly who enjoys immense following in home state and fondly called as Bengal Tiger.
