Telangana Government constitued State Wakf Tribunal for resolving issues related to Wakf or Wakf properties in Telangana under the Wakf Act, 1995.
The existing Andhra Pradesh State Wakf Tribunal which was constituted in United AP wasn't included in either Schedule IX or Schedule X of the AP Reorganisation Act. So, Telangana Government felt the need to create a Wakf Tribunal of its own.
The 3-Member Wakf Tribunal will be headed by a Judicial Officer who isn't below the rank of District Sessions Judge or a Civil Judge, Class I. The other two posts will be filled by an IAS Officer and the one with complete knowledge of Muslim Law and Jurisprudence.
