As many as 15 Seemandhra MLAs has resigned on Thursday in protest to the centre carving out the Telangana state. About eight MLAs including seniors like JC Diwakar Reddy submitted their resignations to the legislature secretary, five others including one TDP MLA faxed their resignations to Speaker's office and two more legislators submitted letters to PCC Chief. Two MLCs submitted their resignations to the Legislative council chairman.
Addressing the media, Diwakar Reddy told all of them have resigned respecting the sentiments of the Seemandhra region and they would be joining the people's movement from now to keep the state united.
Earlier, 17 MLAs of YSR Congress have resigned protesting the statehood stand of the Centre.
Seemandhra leaders have been demanding the High Command to reconsider its decision on bifurcation.
