Sikhar Patranabis, an IIT Kharagpur Student, who scored of 9.87 to emerge as the highest ranked graduate of the prestigious institution for the year 2015 rejected a lucrative corporate offer. Even an attractive package offered by Microsoft didn't affect his determination to take up PhD on hardware security for embedded systems.
Mr. Patranabis says he was never interest in corporate job but always wanted to focus on research. He claims to be having the support of his family and teachers right from the beginning.
Usually, Majority of the top rankers in IIT prefer corporate jobs after graduation. Hardly one or two of them pursue PhD but a highest-ranked student staying back is a very rare phenomenon.
